Thought I'd ease back into things with a little update and a haul. Washington has definitely settled back into it's autumn/winter/spring weather (aka rain, rain, and more rain), so now I have no excuse for not blogging in my spare time. I'm pretty much settled into the new condo, except my room still needs a few finishing touches, but then it will be ready for a room tour vid.<br />
<br />
Before beginning this post I searched high and low for my camera, but I can't find it so I had to use my trusty iPhone for the pictures. My apologies if they're not up to par!<br />

The Review:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>VC Booties</b>- I love love love these booties! They hit me right at the angle and give me just a little height, but they're comfortable enough to wear all day.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>The Fault In Our Stars</b>- I think this deserves it's own post, so that'll be coming up soon. All I can say is that it was the most moving book I've read thus far.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Nasty Gal Necklace & Ring</b>- Two pieces that add a little bit of edge to an outfit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>BrowZings</b>- I'm not an expert when it comes to brows, but I am quite happy with this wax and powder duo. It also comes with a small angled brush, blender brush, and tweezers. Even though I have dark hair and medium toned skin, the Benefit specialist said that she usually only works with the Light on people because the darker shades are too red for most people. And I agree with her, because even the wax in the Light palette is a little too red if it's not mixed with the powder properly.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Circus by Sam Edelman Flats</b>- I just bought these babies last weekend and I've worn them at least four times since then. They're really easy to style and have stud-like tips that add a little somethin'-somethin'.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Tees</b>- I have at least two tees in each color shown. My favorite style is the v-neck, especially when it is a relaxed fit. They go with everything!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Topshop Dress</b>- A perfect comfortable and casual dress that is super easy to style. The main color is a bright violet/blue, and then it's speckled with green, white, and purple. I usually wear a 4 in the stuff from Topshop, but I ordered a size down because it looked quite boxy in the picture. I'm glad I did too, or else it would have been wayyy too big. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Topshop Skirt</b>- If I could use a cliché to describe this skirt it would be "Go big or go home" because this thing is BRIGHT. It is literally like a fluorescent light, but I can't help but love it. It looks great with a white crop top and flat-forms.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
*I know the dress and skirt seem a tad springtime-y, however they make great layering pieces and I'm one of those people who aren't afraid to bear their skin during the winter chill.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Leo Pullover</b>- This is definitely my favorite sweater ever. It's so light and soft, but it keeps me toasty and cozy. Plus, a week after I bought it I found out Macklemore's girlfriend, Tricia Davis, has it too so that's kinda cool.</div>

It is now day 8 of my 2013 journey in NYC! Since Wednesday
I’ve actually acquired quite the collection of info that will come in handy in
life, so I’m paying it forward.</div>

1) If you’re one of those people who visit nail salons
religiously, pop on into <a href="http://polishedbb.com/#home" target="_blank">Polished</a> on 78th between Broadway and West End.
I swear to God/Allah/Yeezus that you will love your visit. Not only do they
sterilize everything - and I mean every area, tool, and point of contact - in
the salon, but also the girls are accommodating, sweet, and helpful. They have
a vast collection of Essie and Zoya nail polishes and also CND Shellac. The mani
and pedi that I got was totally worth the $40! They are totally professional,
and while you wait for your nails to dry they treat you to a relaxing back and
neck massage. Definitely going there again!</div>

2) While my mom and I were having dinner, we watched one of
the waitresses commit several cardinal sins of how to pour Prosecco (or any champagne
or sparkling wine). My mom bartended for as long as a young actress needs to
make a living (for years), so she talked me through how to properly pour. (By
the way, I totally understand how you may be thinking, “Why is a sixteen
year old schooling me on how to pour a glass of bubbly?!”) Rule 1: Cover the
top of the bottle with a towel/napkin, and then twist the bottle, not the cork
to open it. This prevents the cork from popping out. Rule 2: Never pick up the
glass. Rule 3: Hold the bottle at the base, with your thumb in the indented
bump on the bottom. Rule 4: As you finish the pour, twist/roll the bottle so it
doesn’t drip out. Rule 5: Give a generous pour!<o:p></o:p></div>

3) For dessert, we went to <a href="http://www.sugarandplumm.com/" target="_blank">Sugar and Plumm</a>, a cute
restaurant that has anything and everything to satisfy a sweet tooth. The
clientele is wonderfully varied, which proves that sugar never
gets old! My mom and I split their chocolate mousse, which is a combo of dark,
milk, and white chocolates. It was rich and tasty, without being overly filling. The ambiance is lovely and their beautiful dessert themed tile mosaic adds to the fun atmosphere. A downside is that it closes at 10:30pm, so it’s not available for those super
late night cravings, although they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner during the week,
too.<o:p></o:p><br />

I'm three days into my three week program at the Fashion Institute of Technology for my third year in a row. (Gee, three must be the theme of my trip!) The program I'm a part of is called their High School Summer Live program, and they even have one for middle schoolers too. I have a morning class and an afternoon class, and they're only Monday-Thursday. My first class is Fabric Styling, which encompasses all styling from interior design to fashion. The second is a Magazine Design class. I'm still getting a feel for both of them, so I'll do a review in a week or so. Overall, FIT has fabulous courses for precollege students that are at the perfect experience level and educational point, so I would definitely recommend trying one out!<br />

(I'll post pictures when it's finished). I've had a lot of ideas stirring about, but the essence of my room will be bringing my love for fashion and a downtown chic look into it. In the midst of the interior design blogs and Pinterest boards, I discovered <a href="http://ikeaspotting.tumblr.com/">ikeaspotting.tumblr.com</a>. This gem of a blog shows countless ways people have utilized various products from Ikea in very contemporary and clever ways. I've always been an advocate for the superstore, but this blog is proof that the elementary shelving or desks or etc. from there can be worked into an oh-so-chic lifestyle.<br />
And although I am no interior designer, I do have a clear vision of what I want, so here's just a peek of my inspiration and the direction I want to go.<br />

<div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 600px;">

</div>
Clinique is one of my go-to makeup brands in the summertime. It’s light and health conscious formulas are perfect for those makeup-melting, hot days. Plus, it’s on the more affordable side of department store beauty products, so you have some more cha-ching in your pocket for sandals and shorts. From head to toe, Clinique has you covered (Literally, you can slather your whole body in their products).<br />
<br />
My must-have products for summer:<br />
<br />

<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">1)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Body Cream / $23 – This product is non-greasy and sinks into your skin in seconds. It also comes in SPF 50 for those more prone to burning. And, it’s not just for summer! Somewhere out there, there’s a statistic that says that people who wear sunscreen 365 days a year will age noticeably slower.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">2)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Age Defense BB Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30 / $37 – A multitasking product is always a plus! I’ve tried many a BB cream, but this is my favorite so far. It’s smooth and provides good coverage while defending your skin from the sun and aging. As a reference point, I wear it in Color 03.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">3)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Lash Doubling Mascara (Black) / $16 – Out of all of Clinique’s mascaras this one works the best for my thin, stubborn eyelashes. Depending on what kind of formula and applicator shape is most effective for your eyes, Clinique has a variety of worthy choices. Their waterproof version would be a nice option for days at the pool.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">4)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Quickliner for Eyes / $15 – Overall, this eyeliner gets four out of five stars. The application is easy and it comes in an array of colors, but it is prone to smudging. This could be a downer in the summer, but on the other hand you could use it to create a smoldering smoky eye! For a more natural look the black/brown shade is just dark enough to make your eyes pop, but not as harsh as a true black.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">5)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Color Balm / $16 – A healthy tint of a punchy pink tone glides on in this super smooth balm. It can be built up or blended out, and it will last a while. I have one in Curvy Candy, a bubblegum-pink shade, but they come in nudes to reds.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">6)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Blushing Blush Powder Blush (Sunset Glow) / $21 – This blush gives a warmer bronzy dusting to the cheeks that is reminiscent of a peachy sunset. Application wise, it’s a reliable choice.</span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: Arial; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /><o:p></o:p></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">7)<span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman'; font-size: 7pt;"> </span></span></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Powder / $35 – I’ve tried this setting powder and their Blended Face Powder in Transparency Neutral ($22), but this is the one I’ve been using most recently. It has just a hint of coverage and axes any oiliness. The Redness Solutions powder is the best for sensitive skin.<o:p></o:p></span><br />
<span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><br /></span><span style="color: #333333; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Have a lovely summer holiday! xxx</span><br />

Most of the pieces are light and airy because I'd want as little amount of clothing on as possible if I were surrounded by thousands of people in the desert. Since crop tops are on-trend right now they are an easy go-to piece. They look really cute with high waisted shorts or a skirt that sits at your waist. Color-wise I would stick with creams, blushes, and baby blues, or anything else in the almost-white category. This keeps you cooler than wearing a black band tee and prevents sweat stains from being as noticeable. A cute backpack is a hassle free way of carrying your belongings around, plus an extra sweater for nighttime. To accessorize, metallic jewelry will add some polish to the look and a cute phone battery will be a lifesaver! For shoes I would go for whatever is the most comfortable, so something along the lines of Converse, Keds, or even ankle boots would work. Honestly, anything goes at Coachella and the focus is the music, so being comfortable is the most important point to hit. From San Francisco to Los Angeles, the California-cool character is palpable and infectious. It makes me want to get 5 shades darker, don my largest sunnies, and slip into a gauzy maxi dress.<br />
Between this year and last I have experienced many different parts of California and the most buzz-worthy is definitely Los Angeles. There are numerous shopping destinations, star-sighting spots, and famous landmarks to be seen. Since this is a fashion blog I'm just going to be focusing on the fashion-oriented places, but there's something for everybody & every interest in LA. So here's my top five shopping havens:<br />
<br />
1) Melrose Avenue<br />
The long line of stores ranges from Marc Jacobs and Alexander McQueen to American Apparel and vintage shops. In the more affordable area, many of the stores have been there for decades and have similar merchandise, but it's all very cute and I've found some unique pieces among them. While some of the stores are super feminine, the overall effect embodies the grungier, street-style of LA.<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>If you plan on going to Melrose, you <i>must </i>visit Wasteland. It is the best consignment store I have ever been to. It's full of designer finds that are gently used and sometimes more than half the original price. On my most recent trip I scored a leather blazer by Trouve for $75 that was previously $200 (You'll see this on my Spring Break(down) video next week!)</li>
</ul>
<div>
2) The Grove LA</div>
<div>
This outdoor shopping center is fairly new and has developed quite a scene. It's newest acquisition to its collection of stores (Including Nordstrom, Barney's, Zara, Abercrombie, etc.) is Topshop/Topman which opened in February. I can always count on a statement piece from Topshop, and it's one of the three locations in the U.S. There's also a myriad of different restaurants and a Dylan's candy bar to satiate your sweet tooth.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.city-data.com/articles/images/img7761730.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://www.city-data.com/articles/images/img7761730.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>I prefer this mall to others because it's kept so clean and accessible. Even though it has a lot of the same standard stores the village-like layout makes it seem charming in a way. Plus, the public restrooms are seriously the nicest one's I've ever been to. There must be tons of people who go through there every day, but they are kept pristine. (This may not be that important to some people, but I found them to be a wonderful part of my experience).</li>
</ul>
<div>
3) Rodeo Drive</div>
</div>
<div>
I'm actually not too crazy about Rodeo because of the degree of fussiness that goes with it, but if your pocket is deep enough this would be the place to shop all of the designer brands. I enjoy just walking Rodeo and admiring the stores that aren't available in Washington like Chanel and Versace, but it's easy to find yourself in a sea of tourists who insist on snapping pictures of every label in sight.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.hauteliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/RodeoDriveSign.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://www.hauteliving.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/RodeoDriveSign.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Overall, I find Rodeo to be a bit overrated and I think the heavy load of tourists that mill about are obnoxious, but if you're going to be in LA it would be sad to say you didn't experience Rodeo at least once. If you can, go through the hills, past Bel Air, and then down into Beverly Hills to get to Rodeo for a more scenic route.</li>
</ul>
<div>
4) Old Town Pasadena</div>
</div>
<div>
While this isn't in LA, I thought I should mention it because I love it so much. It's about half an hour away from LA by car and is totally worth the drive. It's a quieter experience than the buzz of the city, but it will meet your shopping needs. From Forever 21 to J. Crew, it has it all.</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>Many people consider Old Town the real downtown of Pasadena, because it's where the most of the action is. All of the shopping is on Colorado Boulevard, which has never seemed too packed with people any of the times I've visited. If you're in the mood for a relaxed shopping trip, this is the place to go.</li>
</ul>
<div>
5) Santee Alley</div>
</div>
<div>
I haven't actually been to Santee Alley when it was open, but from what I've heard it's the best place for cheap finds. It's located in LA's Fashion District right in downtown. There are about 150 stores/vendors in the Alley (it literally is an alley between two blocks) that are open every day of the year. Be aware though, a lot of the "bargains" are really just knockoffs.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://s3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/z5TEj0zlafkiRw6KahFvPA/l.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://s3-media4.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/z5TEj0zlafkiRw6KahFvPA/l.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
</div>
<div>
<ul>
<li>I arrived right when all of the vendors were closing down, but from what I saw Santee Alley is equivalent to Canal Street in New York. Personally, I'm not a fan of those kinds of vendors, but I know a lot of people who don't mind it. Who knows, you might find something great! There's shops for clothes, accessories, shoes, cosmetics, etc. with everything at reasonable prices.</li>
</ul>
<div>
The best part of LA shopping is the diversity of experiences you can have within a few days. Sometimes you just have to be in the right mood for a certain place, but no matter what you'll find somewhere you enjoy in the LA area.</div>

<div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;">
<br /></div>
Yay! It’s the first day of my spring break and I am currently on a plane down to LA! (Edit: It’s actually halfway through my spring break, but I wrote this when I was on the plane. Expect a blast of blog posts that I haven’t had time to upload coming soon). I’m still recovering from a bad cold that put me on bed rest for a week, but something good did come out of it. I discovered what a miracle worker coconut oil is! All around it is beneficial to your inner and outer health. I read up about it on <a href="http://www.themotherhuddle.com/coconut-oil-scalp-treatment/" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
Whenever I get sick my hair loses it’s shine and strength,so I wanted to give it some TLC. As I was browsing DIY hair/scalp treatments one ingredient kept popping up: coconut oil. I had just bought a jar of it, so I concocted my own treatment based on this one. All of the ingredients are really beneficial to hair!</div>

Tips:<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Since oils and water don't mix, this will only work on dry hair.</li>
<li>Do this in the bathroom or kitchen or wherever it's OK to get messy.</li>
<li>Dipping the comb into the mixture and running it through your hair works pretty well, but to get it close to the scalp you're going to have to use your hands.</li>
<li>It may take two showers to completely rinse the oil out of your hair (I nlearned this the hard way).</li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Directions:<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
All you have to do is mix all of the ingredients into a small bowl until it is combined well, then you are ready to start applying it!I would suggest doing this on a weekend or when you have some free time because it is quite a process to put it in your hair and it has to sit for 30+ minutes.Start at the hairline and work your way down by first dipping my hands in the mixture and massaging onto your scalp and then dipping the comb in the mixture and combing it all the way to the ends (This is the best method that I figured out). When you think your hair is sufficiently coated, tie your hair up into a loose bun and put the shower cap on. Then, set a timer for 30-45 minutes depending on how long or thick your hair is. Once the timer goes off take a shower and wash your hair like normal with shampoo and conditioner. It may take two showers to completely rinse the treatment out so maybe double shampoo when you’re in the shower. Once you’re hair dries (I blow dried mine straight, like always) your locks should feel silky-smooth!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
To be honest, after my second shower and blow dry I didn’t really see a difference in the shininess of my hair. I was doubtful, but when I went to school a few days later (even after another shower) I got multiple compliments on how shiny and soft it was! It’s been two weeks since then, and my hair still feels great!<o:p></o:p></div>

The deep green color contrasts from last year's Tangerine Tango, but I find it to be refreshing and lush. It takes you from the depths of the Amazon to the fields of Ireland.<br />
<br />
Now that the new year has settled in and the stream of Fashion Weeks have kicked off, I'm seeing emerald everywhere. Clothes, accessories, interior decorations, etc. it has taken over. It just makes me want to sing "One Short Day" from Wicked!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/pantones_color_year_2013/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=74546133" target="_blank"><img alt="Pantone's Color of the Year 2013" border="0" force="1" height="600" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/LyOCKxFWkc215ReO5PC80A/cid/74546133/id/VqnUaiBDSUe-GeTJdRnI6A/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Pantone's Color of the Year 2013" width="600" /></a></div><br />
How I would style it:<br />
Since I'm still on my black-is-the-new-black kick, I'm planning on incorporating the jewel tone through accessorizing. A black base comprised of a peplum top, leggings, and pumps paired with chunky geometric emerald earrings or large bangle would make a statement.<br />
If you feel like you can pull off the full body of the color, then go for it! An emerald pant (maybe play around with a pattern here) would look fab with a sheer cream blouse and some gold jewelry.<br />
And don't forget about nail polish! A fresh mani with Sephora + Pantone Universe nail polish will give you the exact Emerald to add a pop to a look.<br />
<br />
If you want to know more about Pantone's Color of the Year visit their <a href="https://www.pantone.com/pages/MYP_mypantone/mypInfo.aspx?ca=75&pg=21056" target="_blank">webpage</a> dedicated to it. It's actually really fascinating!<br />

There were a lot of really gorgeous dresses, but they were just "blah" for the setting. Here's my breakdown of some of the most memorable looks. (By the way, if you didn't watch the Fashion Police Grammy's special, watch it asap. It was a particularly hilarious episode!)<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://wpc.4d27.edgecastcdn.net/004D27/2013/Awards/RihannaGrammys2013AzzedineAlaia/Rihanna+Grammys+2013+Azzedine+Alaia+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://wpc.4d27.edgecastcdn.net/004D27/2013/Awards/RihannaGrammys2013AzzedineAlaia/Rihanna+Grammys+2013+Azzedine+Alaia+1.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This was one of my favorites of the night. While the dress was simple for Rihanna's standards, the bright red and sheerness sexed it up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i.huffpost.com/gen/984117/thumbs/o-KATY-PERRY-GRAMMYS-DRESS-2013-570.jpg?15" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://i.huffpost.com/gen/984117/thumbs/o-KATY-PERRY-GRAMMYS-DRESS-2013-570.jpg?15" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Katy Perry in Gucci.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Katy obviously wears this dress very well. I really liked seeing her with normal colored hair and a sleeker look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://thatgrapejuice.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/beyonce-grammys-2013-1-e1360546276418.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://thatgrapejuice.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/beyonce-grammys-2013-1-e1360546276418.jpg" width="436" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Beyoncé in Osman.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's no denying that Queen B really missed the mark on this one. While, yes, it's different to do a pantsuit, and yes, it accentuated how... bootylicious she is, she could have done so much better.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media4.onsugar.com/files/2013/02/06/0/192/1922398/b13b8a9addb71d11_161386458.preview/i/Justin-Timberlake-Grammys-2013-Pictures.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://media4.onsugar.com/files/2013/02/06/0/192/1922398/b13b8a9addb71d11_161386458.preview/i/Justin-Timberlake-Grammys-2013-Pictures.jpg" width="442" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Justin Timberlake in Tom Ford.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm absolutely mad for Justin and his suit and tie (and the song, too).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://images.mstarz.com/data/images/full/9124/grammys-2013-best-dressed-carrie-underwood.jpg?w=600" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://images.mstarz.com/data/images/full/9124/grammys-2013-best-dressed-carrie-underwood.jpg?w=600" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Carrie Underwood in Roberto Cavalli.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is one of the looks where it's nice and pretty, but it just doesn't inspire any emotion. Plus, the 31 million dollar necklace seems a tad excessive.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://fashionandstylepolice.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/florence-welch-grammys-2013-red-carpet.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://fashionandstylepolice.files.wordpress.com/2013/02/florence-welch-grammys-2013-red-carpet.jpg" width="404" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Florence Welch in custom Givenchy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I actually appreciate the creativity and process that went behind this dress, but the finished product is quite bizarre. It definitely channels a lizard-like look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/130211/taylor_swift_grammy_red_carpet_2013_18hgfvr-18hggrh.jpg?x=450&q=80&n=1&sig=WitZ51Pp9KdgPL935TXsdg--" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://l.yimg.com/ea/img/-/130211/taylor_swift_grammy_red_carpet_2013_18hgfvr-18hggrh.jpg?x=450&q=80&n=1&sig=WitZ51Pp9KdgPL935TXsdg--" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Taylor Swift in J. Mendel.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This dress stays true to Taylor's sweet style that everyone loves so much. I'm not crazy about the milkmaid braids with the dress, but it keeps the look young and sophisticated at the same time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.glamour.com/images/fashion/2013/02/jennifer-lopez-grammys-anthony-vacarello-h724.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://www.glamour.com/images/fashion/2013/02/jennifer-lopez-grammys-anthony-vacarello-h724.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was so underwhelmed by this look that I can barely critique it. It's pretty much just two pieces of black fabric sewn halfway together... it would have looked much better if the slit had been a few inches higher to elongate the leg, not sever it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s418/Divinemlee/snake/grammys/carly-rae-jepsen-grammys-2013_zpsd9a5ce0d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://i1050.photobucket.com/albums/s418/Divinemlee/snake/grammys/carly-rae-jepsen-grammys-2013_zpsd9a5ce0d.jpg" width="442" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Carly Rae Jepsen in Roberto Cavalli.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am drawn to the dress, but I don't think that it really made Carly shine. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/bg/55th+Annual+GRAMMY+Awards+nA3juk9APHTl.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://www2.pictures.zimbio.com/bg/55th+Annual+GRAMMY+Awards+nA3juk9APHTl.jpg" width="396" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm in love with this graphic (and very strategic) dress. Kelly won Fashion Police's and my Best Dressed award for the Grammys. She looks simply stunning!</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/bath_body_birthday_haul/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=70773573" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Bath & Body Birthday Haul" border="0" force="1" height="640" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/pUxEA0mR6s9qxSps7lIqA/cid/70773573/id/0QB2wsHWStOolgRKV6WWVw/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Bath & Body Birthday Haul" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
1) Clarisonic Mia2- My mom bought me the "passion fruit" colored one as an early birthday present at the beginning of the month, so I've had a decent amount of time to draw conclusions about it. . . and I must say it does not live up to the hype for me. Read my full review of it <a href="http://fashionandfilles.blogspot.com/2013/01/clarisonic-mia-2.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
2) Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser- I purchased this to go along with the Mia2 because I was in need of a new cleanser. The lady working at Sephora told me that it was her favorite face wash in the store and that it would help with the oiliness and minor blemishes I was struggling with. Overall, it is a pretty effective cleanser. The charcoal that makes it black really does dissolve oil, assist in diminishing pore size, and create a warming effect when lathered on the skin. My only con is that it doesn't have the best fragrance, but I've gotten used to it. One last plus, is that it is made without any of the yucky paragons, sulfates, etc.<br />
<br />
3) Hello, Gorgeous giftbox from Lush- My best friend gave me this one on Monday, but I've already tested out most of the products.<br />
<ul>
<li>Rub Rub Rub- This body scrub is the best I've ever tried. The salt crystals are within a gel that makes the exfoliation less harsh than the Sea Salt Scrub, but still scrubs off any dead skin and leaves the skin silky. I really like the soft floral scent, too!</li>
<li>Vanilla Dee-Lite- I'm quite picky when it comes to lotions, but this one meets all of my requirements. It feels light on my skin, absorbs super fast, and smells warm and sweet, but not overpoweringly so.</li>
<li>Lemony Flutter- This "softening butter" is for repairing tough, cracked skin or cuticles. It literally has the consistency of a stick of butter and therefore feels a little greasy at first, but once it is massaged into a dry area it is absorbed quickly and feels quite nice. My cuticles and elbows have really appreciated it. I'm also a fan of the lemony scent. It has a perfect balance between too sweet and too tart.</li>
<li>Gorgeous- Lush believes that Gorgeous is the finest quality moisturizer on the market. I've only used it a couple of times, but I think that it is definitely on the better end of moisturizers. It has a good consistency and leaves my skin hydrated after cleansing it or taking a shower. The combination of organic ingredients leaves it with a pleasant, but somewhat earthy scent. On Lush's website it says that within 4-6 weeks of using Gorgeous skin will appear softer, smoother, and brighter, so I will probably do a follow-up on if it lives up to it's claim. I will warn you that all of the great factors of the moisturizer do add up to a large price tag. A 1.5oz pot of Gorgeous costs $90!</li>
<li>Sakura Bath Bomb & The Comforter Bubble Bar- I haven't used these two yet, but both of them smell amazing! Sakura has the same scent as Rub Rub Rub, while The Comforter smells fruity with a hint of warmth and spice from the blackcurrant. Both are fairly large, so I am hoping that I can get more than one use out of them. I'll put these in with a follow up on the Gorgeous moisturizer!</li>
</ul>
<div>
Hope you're week is going well so far! xxx</div>

Clarisonic offers several different cleansing systems (Mia, Mia 2, Aria, etc.), but the Mia 2 is the most popular. It has two speeds, so you can adjust it to your skin's needs, and is travel friendly. The brush head it comes with can be interchanged with a variety of brush heads that have specific uses. It also comes with the pLink charger and a travel case. The battery lasts for quite a bit, but charging it also takes a while.<br />

<br />
<br />
Before I tried the Clarisonic Mia 2, at least 3 of my friends had been using it and were happy with the results, so I thought that it would definitely be worth it (These things aren't very cheap!). I have combination skin, that has been more on the oily side lately, so I was hoping that it would improve the oiliness while getting rid of the dried out areas. After about three nights of using it to wash my face before bedtime I noticed that I was breaking out. Little blemishes kept appearing in spots where I normally didn't break out and got even worse in my problem areas.<br />
<br />
I did some research and I found out that it is common for new Clarisonic users to experience a "purging stage." This means that the Clarisonic is doing it's job at deeply cleaning your skin, but in the process the wastes/dirt/bacteria needs to be expelled through blemishes. Another thing I learned was that the Clarisonic Mia 2 was just too harsh on some people's skin, so they had to minimize the use to once or twice a week. Also, if you don't wash your Clarisonic on a weekly basis bacteria can start to accumulate on the brush head, which could cause break outs.<br />
<br />
I'm approaching my fourth week of using the Clarisonic every night, and I have seen some changes. My T-Zone had been getting much more oily than normal before I started using the Mia 2, but after a week or so I noticed that it had started to diminish. I was also really impressed with how much left-over makeup it washes off. I use a makeup removing wipe before I wash my face, but I found out that they really aren't removing as much as they should be, and the Mia 2 finishes the job. Another thing it is really effective at is exfoliating. The subtle vibrating combined with moving it in a circular motion is sure to remove any dead skin and leave your face baby-skin soft. Unfortunately, I still have more blemishes than I would like, but I think I just need to give it a little more time.<br />

Not to mention that my favorite colors (or non-colors) black and white will be making a statement in Spring. See what can happen when you take two fabulous trends and mix 'em up. . . In the words of Rachel Zoe "SO MAJ."<br />
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/black_white_neon/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=70133759" target="_blank"><img alt="Black and White and Neon. . ." border="0" force="1" height="400" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/X3qQn9OUrGgD89u1yF3SUQ/cid/70133759/id/cwluXXQNRui1S-KzjTk1TA/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Black and White and Neon. . ." width="400" /></a><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/all_over/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=70134089" target="_blank"><img alt=". . . ALL OVER" border="0" force="1" height="400" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/BOUDj2RwHc7Cask2LIA6WQ/cid/70134089/id/llDggRkASeWEIkXd3-2lWg/size/c600x600.jpg" title=". . . ALL OVER" width="400" /></a><br />
Even though the two trends contradict each other literally, they compliment each other oh-so-well! Go graphic with the black and white to make it stand out. Then, add some bright accessories to refresh the look. To build off of a neon base, add some B&W accessories that will add to the whole look. Again, make the B&W bold so it doesn't look plain or boring against such a bright canvas.<br />
<br />
If you're the kind of one-stop-shopper for trends Nasty Gal has the best of both worlds. They put together lookbooks of their products for the upcoming season that are really great resources for inspiration. January's <a href="http://www.nastygal.com/Lookbooks_January-Lookbook-Pop-Rocks" target="_blank">Pop Rocks</a> lookbook features all of the best brights, while <a href="http://www.nastygal.com/Lookbooks_Loud-and-Clear" target="_blank">Loud & Clear</a> is true to its name, shouting out patterns and prints through black and white. Plus, basically all of their styles go from edgy to feminine in a snap, which I love!<br />
<br />
So which trend do you favor? Or are you like me, and want to mix and match them all?<br />

I started with the lemon-lime sheer top, incorporating the neon trend (this will be super hot for spring, but more on that later). Then I added the chambray button down for a touch of denim, and I topped it off with my leopard print cardigan to complete the layered look.<br />
<br />
Hope 2013 has been amazing for you all so far!<br />

She had a simple aesthetic that can easily translate into the 21 Century. The clean silhouettes of her daily wear were chic and sophisticated. Her natural beauty and elegance made the costumes of the characters she portrayed her own.<br />
If I'm ever stuck on what to wear I just go the Audrey direction and go simple. The LBD (Little Black Dress), white button down, black leggings, ballet flats, and statement dress are all essential pieces to achieving Audrey's effortless style.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/lbd/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=68187959" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="LBD" border="0" force="1" height="400" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/VnPSCUxPAVc4mMJP82eQ/cid/68187959/id/W10bVZUQR3mish3Y8SHRaQ/size/c600x600.jpg" title="LBD" width="400" /></a></div>1) The Little Black Dress- My personal favorite. There are so many silhouettes, textiles, and styling possibilities that comes with the LBD. Plus, black is universally flattering on any woman.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/timeless_trio/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=68188078" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Timeless Trio" border="0" force="1" height="400" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/Z1rP3qwtOP0TcT879liJBw/cid/68188078/id/Xs18u8v4Rga7w3I-d08llA/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Timeless Trio" width="400" /></a></div>2) Timeless Trio- A men's white button down, black pants, and ballet flats will always be in style. The white shirt may be a women's fit too, but there's something intriguing about wearing a men's white shirt, even if it's your own. I bought one from Calvin Klein in the extra slim fit. (I have an old blog post all about it here). Black pants are also a must. They should be really fitted or just leggings to juxtapose the masculinity of the shirt. To complete the look, ballet flats will always work. My favorite kind are just plain black leather or patent leather, but if you're going to be literal, Audrey wears embellished ones in the picture above.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.polyvore.com/statement_dress/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=68187822" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Statement Dress" border="0" force="1" height="400" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/c4SsSmm155bZKwjwHvLK1g/cid/68187822/id/LpWsjAjPTTerA8UQn7bNZQ/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Statement Dress" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">3) Statement dress- I remember watching Sabrina for the first time and falling in love with the gorgeous Givenchy dress. Most people don't have an occasion to wear such a fancy ensemble, but a girl should always have a special dress tucked away. The dresses I picked out above vaguely reminded me of the Sabrina dress mixed with modern trends like the brocade and mirror prints. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now who's in the mood to have an Audrey Hepburn movie marathon?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/user/SophieFay97">YouTube</a>.</div><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><a href="https://www.facebook.com/FashionAndFilles" target="_blank">Facebook.</a></div><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><a href="https://twitter.com/Sophie_Fay">Twitter</a>.</div><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><a href="http://fashionandfilles.tumblr.com/">Tumblr</a>.</div><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><a href="http://web.stagram.com/n/sophie_fay97/">Instagram</a>.</div><br />

I've found some really useful, fun, and free fashion related ones to share with you.<br />
<br />
<div>
I didn't really realize this until I went through all of them, but you will have to create an account for the apps I mention. It's really simple though, and some of them can connect to your Facebook.<br />
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
Here are my top five that will feed your fashion addiction:<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOXGvBK5or7gdMdXXwOY_c_XQlHpLvukU6HcaNNNivtfXJu4-peM8c3eIJt0YOyHydwQ2UNaMMG2MAEF1We-4GwwWl2TNG9bDGEwK1FMs5xVfZ3fr36O_CgK-NBl7-OpqFnW7O14B68v8/s1600/IMG_0132.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOXGvBK5or7gdMdXXwOY_c_XQlHpLvukU6HcaNNNivtfXJu4-peM8c3eIJt0YOyHydwQ2UNaMMG2MAEF1We-4GwwWl2TNG9bDGEwK1FMs5xVfZ3fr36O_CgK-NBl7-OpqFnW7O14B68v8/s320/IMG_0132.PNG" width="180" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtNP0cyWFYCSJmkemMDxRbObTR2eZWY6rpy9QCBvo7NRw6ZD1ne6xyNnb9MO4-u0PCNk1YF0hKdGOsLYoR-PPZbCqeybBNWmfgp5keMvyK0MTNM0k61Ug1AIXc3nRW5VUU_Im_rCbxyfM/s1600/IMG_0133.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhtNP0cyWFYCSJmkemMDxRbObTR2eZWY6rpy9QCBvo7NRw6ZD1ne6xyNnb9MO4-u0PCNk1YF0hKdGOsLYoR-PPZbCqeybBNWmfgp5keMvyK0MTNM0k61Ug1AIXc3nRW5VUU_Im_rCbxyfM/s320/IMG_0133.PNG" width="180" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
1) Wanelo- I just downloaded this one yesterday, but I'm already hooked. It is similar to Pinterest in the way that you save items to your own boards/collections (above right), but the best (and maybe worst) part is that you can buy everything you see.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwU4El6etsWQFhdBkW8evOx6CwAKaQpDXKeDtZ8hjrskqe31_5G4xQq7uRxdY9Wf54QKbzV8AI8u-2_VTUsjXGG67h_er49Dc1Lezy8bhLfdE_LVT7MOKzMZDxYo45H1dJHAqQQIaFtjk/s1600/IMG_0138.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinlGTMfS16H54ZG488bBICLUS4CFphAPQy98xdPa0-cV8fjRFMpwGPHLsJ7Wn2vTgd-oIjlnSpcQkskb2ddBIu86mSpyev9EogyTpmEKBpOZcwEg2A9h53jiJKn665JErykJog_1-pdDM/s1600/IMG_0144.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinlGTMfS16H54ZG488bBICLUS4CFphAPQy98xdPa0-cV8fjRFMpwGPHLsJ7Wn2vTgd-oIjlnSpcQkskb2ddBIu86mSpyev9EogyTpmEKBpOZcwEg2A9h53jiJKn665JErykJog_1-pdDM/s320/IMG_0144.PNG" width="180" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio3x-wss0R8Gn7LZM0Ml9496WE-by_r2o66ZaRtfXj6729k_9eHmgWcLveV9QsrVhJxD4slxq_nK3R6wSPhNUUjYmSHUi8Mh01K5fLrnYHgq2tp3pq-1y6sXmr77Npgvm_lwrg0U8hAsM/s1600/IMG_0139.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio3x-wss0R8Gn7LZM0Ml9496WE-by_r2o66ZaRtfXj6729k_9eHmgWcLveV9QsrVhJxD4slxq_nK3R6wSPhNUUjYmSHUi8Mh01K5fLrnYHgq2tp3pq-1y6sXmr77Npgvm_lwrg0U8hAsM/s320/IMG_0139.PNG" width="180" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwU4El6etsWQFhdBkW8evOx6CwAKaQpDXKeDtZ8hjrskqe31_5G4xQq7uRxdY9Wf54QKbzV8AI8u-2_VTUsjXGG67h_er49Dc1Lezy8bhLfdE_LVT7MOKzMZDxYo45H1dJHAqQQIaFtjk/s1600/IMG_0138.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwU4El6etsWQFhdBkW8evOx6CwAKaQpDXKeDtZ8hjrskqe31_5G4xQq7uRxdY9Wf54QKbzV8AI8u-2_VTUsjXGG67h_er49Dc1Lezy8bhLfdE_LVT7MOKzMZDxYo45H1dJHAqQQIaFtjk/s320/IMG_0138.PNG" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
2) Stylitics- This one is really useful for someone who plans out their outfits like me. You take pictures of your clothes (above center) and then you can track when you wear them (above right) and put together outfits for certain occasions.</div>

Even though it's a new year it's still the middle of Winter for half of the world, so keeping warm and toasty (and fashionable) requires a bit more effort. Here are some pieces that make layering easy and cute:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/layering_essentials/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=67598966" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Layering Essentials" border="0" force="1" height="600" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/DpHtGEAKh5GGb6sEod9JIA/cid/67598966/id/Ki8AQm5yTpew6O6r4XuIHg/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Layering Essentials" width="600" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1) Denim shirt- These are available in a variety of washes, silhouettes, and price ranges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2) Oversized cardigan- The looser fit allows a denim shirt or other medium weight top to be layered underneath. Get one in a fun pattern to make an outfit pop.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3) Pea coat- A classic coat. This piece will definitely keep you bundled up and warm layered on top of everything else.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4) Infinity scarf- I love the knitted kind for winter time. This can also be subbed for a regular scarf, but I just don't know how to wear a regular scarf. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5) Boots- I used harness boots as an example, but any tall boot would work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6) Knee socks- These look really cute peaking out from the top of a boot. I like ones that are knitted or have a texture or pattern on them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7) Fur vest- Not my favorite layering piece, but I've seen a lot of these lately. Look to Mary-Kate and Ashley for styling inspiration.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8) Light top- This is your bottom layer that goes underneath the denim shirt and/or cardigan. The chiffon collared style adds a feminine touch.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
9) Leggings- I prefer plain black, but the patterned or knitted ones are also quite popular right now. Since they are so form fitting wearing tall socks scrunched up on top of them doesn't look too bulky.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Another option for your bottom layer could be tights with dressier shorts on top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Have fun layering it up in the new year!</div>

I thought I would do a product review today since I got some goodies from Santa that I would like to share with you. Actually I didn't even receive this one from Santa, it was from my best friend, but I bet you can guess what it is from the title of the post.<br />
Yup! It's the Naked 2 palette! I've had my eye on this beauty since Urban Decay released it last year. The original Naked palette and the Naked 2 are the same in price at $50. As their names suggest, they are each filled with twelve eye shadows in natural hues. Even though I have relied on the first Naked palette for the past year, I personally think that the Naked2 palette outshines the original by lightyears.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimBDJzwMIvr54gOq3EP3J1YsoqYMRlpM_Ip-YiL9Bfe9e6vWG3bbkxlovpevctrAjbqMzeuItaQ4T3lO1QMjqBakBI1q3T1NxZmHCZhSLJyfmZGofoWpv_XVdloGD0IjfebmA3ertGBDw/s1600/P1000821.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimBDJzwMIvr54gOq3EP3J1YsoqYMRlpM_Ip-YiL9Bfe9e6vWG3bbkxlovpevctrAjbqMzeuItaQ4T3lO1QMjqBakBI1q3T1NxZmHCZhSLJyfmZGofoWpv_XVdloGD0IjfebmA3ertGBDw/s640/P1000821.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRM93hgf-Oze3y5Qofv8jUgM5EInBFB4ifb34RLAll5VMEZ-ZP_nfECO1izJa0jepcnFJ_d_g-6z6SJLx9WruAFDWO90WrwzkfKhlSFV7HPHekWuqx6y_hNyjViJk_ZevYz_PqZXGZ-vQ/s1600/P1000822.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRM93hgf-Oze3y5Qofv8jUgM5EInBFB4ifb34RLAll5VMEZ-ZP_nfECO1izJa0jepcnFJ_d_g-6z6SJLx9WruAFDWO90WrwzkfKhlSFV7HPHekWuqx6y_hNyjViJk_ZevYz_PqZXGZ-vQ/s640/P1000822.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The new formula that Urban Decay is now using for all of their eye shadows is much more soft and silky on application and loosens up more than their previous formula. The colors themselves are quite pigmented, but not too much so. It is easy to build and blend the colors to your desired saturation. In comparison to the first one color-wise, Naked2 has a cooler tone to it. In the first one there are warm golds, bronzes, and browns and a couple of almost pink/purple eye shadows. The second one has a few of the same gold and bronze colors, but it includes some stony, slate tones as well. I swatched all of the colors on the inside of my arm so you can see them for yourself. *Note that the lighting affected the way that some of the colors show up. Also for your reference, I have a medium-fair skin tone with yellow undertones.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnqxGMHXTXZBb8XG4vNEo3B7-26BblemZYJoqn3snhtlXKogzE3UEksPW9CBGFl_i4ro7Nio0k1saBL-eJPvCOBJlQo2aDnlWvCUCYf5xKHFZ1np4OzIpU08Rc4lm_PbcFm3_RhTWhoPA/s1600/P1000813.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="473" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnqxGMHXTXZBb8XG4vNEo3B7-26BblemZYJoqn3snhtlXKogzE3UEksPW9CBGFl_i4ro7Nio0k1saBL-eJPvCOBJlQo2aDnlWvCUCYf5xKHFZ1np4OzIpU08Rc4lm_PbcFm3_RhTWhoPA/s640/P1000813.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">*I would like to mention that the first color in the palette, Foxy, barely showed up in the photo, but actually is quite noticeable in person. It is a light cream in a matte finish that makes a good base color.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyways, another aspect that I like about the Naked2 palette is the packaging. The metal case snaps shut and seems quite durable. The first Naked palette has a velvet case that has collected spots of eye shadow and makeup over the past year and closes with inset magnets that don't always keep it shut. The mirror on the Naked2 is larger than the one in the original Naked palette, but I never use the mirrors inside of palettes anyways so that doesn't make a difference to me. Both of them come with brushes, but I actually don't like either of them. I lost the one that came with the first one and the double ended brush (one brush for basic application and a crease brush) that came with the second one doesn't pick up the eye shadow very well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So overall, the Naked2 wins on pigmentation, blendability (I just made that one up), and packaging. Plus, I have a personal preference for the more stony toned colors in the Naked2.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hope this review helped you gain more info on the two Naked palettes! If you want to see some of the other things I received for christmas click on my YouTube link.</div>

Like I said in a previous post, my family always leaves Christmas shopping until the last minute. I actually got most of it done yesterday (Dec. 22), but I still have a few stocking stuffers and minor things to get. If you're in the Christmas Crunch Time too, these are some small presents you can get super fast:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/stocking_stuffers/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=66517359" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: -webkit-auto;" target="_blank"><img alt="Stocking Stuffers" border="0" force="1" height="600" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/MYtzEwlEhx2zCBseaLHjaA/cid/66517359/id/1vxUEeMxTtuQUCaVMRtknQ/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Stocking Stuffers" width="600" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Gift cards: My family has dubbed gift cards as a last-resort kind of a present, just because there is a lack of effort on the giver's part, but I actually really like getting gift cards because I enjoy picking out my own things.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Phone Cases: See my post about it <a href="http://fashionandfilles.blogspot.com/2012/12/gift-guide-phone-cases.html" target="_blank">here.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Nail polish: Ooooh, one of my favorites! I'm a nail polish junkie, so a new bottle is always appreciated. They don't have to be really high end like Deborah Lippman, either, a nice bottle of Essie or OPI makes me just as happy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Hair accessories: This takes me back to 8th grade at the height of my Gossip Girl craze... Headbands à la Blair Waldorf were a daily accessory. I don't wear headbands that often now, but cute bobby pins can add a little touch of sparkle and fun to an otherwise boring 'do.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. Socks: I feel like this is always a joke among my friends, or maybe it's just me. Whenever I ask one what they want for Christmas and they say "idk" I'll just tell them I'm getting them socks... okay I guess that would just make it my joke. Anyways, socks could actually be a really trendy gift if you pick out the textured, colorful, or crocheted kind that can peek out over boots/booties.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6. Home decor: Accent pillows, candle holders, bookends, etc... the options are limitless. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. Books: Again, the options are limitless. If you have a fashionable and literate friend consider looking at my videos about fashion/style books <a href="http://fashionandfilles.blogspot.com/2012/12/gift-guide-fashion-literature.html" target="_blank">here</a> for ideas.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
8. Makeup: This one can be very budget friendly (or not, I suppose). One item from Sephora , or two or three drugstore items are both good options.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
9. Jewelry: A small piece of jewelry, like earrings, can actually be a great addition to someone's wardrobe! If you decide to go for jewelry I would recommend getting something that is good quality, even if it is a tad more expensive. If you purchase a few pieces from somewhere like Forever 21 they will probably break within the first few wears, but if you get it from a more reliable place the money spent will actually be worth it and if the person doesn't like it they can actually return it. (Does anyone else think that Forever 21 has ridiculous return policies?)</div>

If you've only known them for just a bit, or even for your entire life, they're usually tricky to shop for... I don't even understand the dynamics behind it. It doesn't seem like guys are very picky about what you get them, but there seems to be an element of stress on getting them the perfect present.<br />
I am an especially thoughtful gift-giver and I probably over-analyze what to get someone. The receiver's interests, hobbies, personal style, etc. are all taken into account before I even start brainstorming what to get them. That said, with guys I go about it the opposite way. Instead of thinking about what they would want, I think about what I would want to see them in or what I think they need. I'm actually surprised at how well this method has worked out for me...<br />
So here are some items that I think guys would appreciate receiving:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.polyvore.com/gift_guide_guy_edition/set?.embedder=837257&.svc=blogger&id=66332025" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;" target="_blank"><img alt="Gift Guide: Guy Edition" border="0" force="1" height="600" src="http://cfc.polyvoreimg.com/cgi/img-set/.sig/pI1vbojbyu85b6f12kmIZw/cid/66332025/id/QBUSShiRSwGaCl8RhBZnpw/size/c600x600.jpg" title="Gift Guide: Guy Edition" width="600" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
1. Sweatshirt: This is probably the easiest thing to get a guy because it can be completely casual. You can make it more personal by giving them a hoodie or crewneck for their favorite school or team.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
2. Snapbacks: I actually don't know that many guys who wear these, but I've noticed that they have become quite popular elsewhere. Again, you can personalize it to whatever team your guy supports.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
3. Nike: Maybe this is just a thing around here, but all of the guys at my school are obsessed with Nike. I'm sure that if there was a survey 99% of them would proudly admit to owning Nike Freerun's and Nike Elite socks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
4. Wallet: What guy doesn't need a wallet? You could even add in some gift cards or some extra cash for a surprise.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
5. Music/tech related stuff: An iTunes card is always a good one. If you're willing to splurge, the Beats by Dre headphones and earbuds are super nice. If not, there are plenty of other headphones out there that would be sufficient. Concert tickets to a band you both enjoy would make a great present too. Other tech related things like phone or iPad cases are easy gifts as well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
6. Movie night: Put together a package including a favorite movie, some popcorn, candy, and a blanket/Snuggie for a thoughtful and fun present. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
7. Cologne: Picking out a cologne for a guy might be difficult if you're trying to figure out what kind he would like, but if you go off of your own senses at least he will know that you like how he smells! (P.S. Bleu de Chanel is what Harry Styles wears).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Again, I hope I helped you get some ideas to get some presents checked off of the list! Happy holidays! xxx</div>

Yay! This Gift Guide comes to you in video form because I had so much to say and share about the books, so I thought it would be best to make my review into a video. Somehow I managed to film half an hour of me just talking about my books, so I had to majorly edit it and split it into two videos! What can I say... I'm an avid reader with a passion for fashion.<br />
Anyways here's the videos! Please "like" and subscribe to my YouTube channel, it would mean a lot to me. Oh, and they look way better in HD!<br />
